Mr. Irrelevant to be picked by the Rams
The St. Louis Rams will be taking Mr. Irrelevant in the 2008 NFL draft.
Mr. Irrelevant is the tongue-in-cheek title given to the last player taken each year in the draft.
The Rams were awarded a seventh-round compensatory pick — the 252nd overall and final selection — in the 2008 NFL draft on Monday.
Mr. Irrelevant and his family are invited each year to spend a week in Newport Beach, Calif., where he’ll receive the ‘Lowsman Trophy’ at a roast in his honor.
Irrelevant Week was founded in Newport Beach in 1976 by former NFL receiver Paul Salata as a celebration of the underdog. Salata makes an appearance at the final day of the NFL draft to announce the final pick. Read more
