I am not a Fisher apologist or a particular Fisher fan. I think his teams have a solid defense and they tend to play hard for him. I think the offensive schemes that the Rams run is the BIGGEST problem for the team right now.

Not sure what I think about this contract extension. I like that the team has “some” stability with the move to LA and all, I just hope they can get a little more creative on the offensive side of the ball to get some wins.

Jeff Fisher is reportedly sticking with Los Angeles a while longer.
Los Angeles Rams Coach Jeff Fisher is reportedly set to get a three-year contract extension, according to ESPN’s John Clayton.

As of Thursday morning, the team hadn’t made anything official. And when it does, it won’t be a big hoopla, according to Clayton. During an spot on 710 ESPN Seattle on Wednesday, the longtime ESPN reporter said the team planned to announce the deal as an addendum attached to a press release about defensive tackle Michael Brockers’s extension.

“The word on the street, I don’t know if they actually put it in one of the…because…they haven’t really put out the Michael Brockers contract extension yet, because I know he just got a contract extension,” Clayton said (via SB Nation’s Turf Show Times). “I think they were gonna put at the bottom of the release that Jeff Fisher signed a three-year extension.”

Clayton didn’t elaborate on why the team had allegedly been planning to sneak the news in about Fisher’s reported extension, but it could have something to do with the team’s dismal Week 1 performance: The team lost, 28-0, to the San Francisco 49ers on Monday night.

The game was so one-sided that Carolina Panthers Coach Ron Rivera said he fell asleep while watching it as homework for his team’s upcoming game with the 49ers on Sunday, according to the Charlotte Observer.

Fisher began coaching the then-St. Louis Rams in St. Louis in 2012. He has never led the team to more than seven wins or higher than third place in the NFC West since he took over. His coaching record with the Rams is 27-36-1.

Prior to coming to the Rams, Fisher coached three seasons for the Houston Texans and 14 with the Tennessee Titans, who he brought to Super Bowl XXXIV but ultimately lost to the St. Louis Rams.

Fisher needs to prove himself before he gets a new contract.
