Rams in 2012 and Beyond

The Rams have had a difficult season so far.  After their loss last week to the New York Jets the Rams sit near the bottom of the NFL in the standings.  Only four teams have a worse record than the Rams at 3-6-1.  The NFL is a bottom line league and the only stat that really matters is the win – loss record.

However, the team has been very competitive in a lot of their games.  Jeff Fisher has instilled a toughness in this team that gives Rams fans some hope.  They took the 49ers to overtime and secured a tie.  Wins against Seattle and Arizona earlier in the year showed that the team has potential.

The real hope for the Rams lies in the draft over the next few years.  With the trade of their 2nd overall pick to the Redskins in last years NFL draft, the Rams own the mother load of picks for the next couple of drafts in the early rounds.  If the Rams can turn these early round draft picks in to productive players or stars this could be a very interesting team in the next two or three seasons.  The Redskins currently have 6 losses on the season which promises to give the Rams two very early draft picks in the next NFL draft.

It will take Jeff Fisher 2-3 seasons to see if he can turn this ship around.  If he can turn it around look for the Rams to start getting better odds in the sports betting world and more wins on the field.  Right now the front office moves by securing high draft picks and the teams inspired play on the field gives Rams’ fans reason for hope.
